Visiting Seoul in November? Banpo Bridge’s regular 2026 fountain season ends on October 31. A November itinerary should not depend on a rainbow fountain show unless the city announces a specific exception for your date. The operator’s October 21 construction notice names October 31 as the season’s end.
For a river walk, decide whether the setting alone is worth the journey. For a fountain-focused trip, check the season, that day’s operating status and the active direction before leaving your hotel. Official information below was checked on October 24, 2026 (America/Chicago). All showtimes are Seoul local time.
Going October 26–31, 2026? Check the side of the bridge
The same city construction notice says the downstream side facing Dongjak Bridge will stop operating from October 26 through the season’s end because of Jamsugyo work. The upstream side facing Hannam Bridge is planned to continue through October 31.
That is a direction-specific change. Before choosing a viewing position, read the daily notice too; a planned upstream show can still be affected by conditions. This dated notice describes the end of the 2026 season, not a permanent rule for future visits.
Banpo Bridge fountain times: start with your month
The operator’s schedule, updated September 14, 2026, lists:
| Period | Scheduled starts |
|---|---|
| March 15–May and October | 12:00, 19:30, 20:00, 20:30, 21:00 |
| June–September | The same times, plus 21:30 |
Each performance is listed as 20 minutes. Admission to view the fountain is free.
The Korea Tourism Organization’s English listing also identifies November–December as closed months, but its broader season and summer bands differ from the newer operator page. Use the direct operator’s calendar for precise dates and times.
A seasonal table does not confirm a particular performance. The operator lists rain, strong wind and water-quality conditions among reasons to stop, and notes that event-linked or test operation can change the timetable.
How to check whether it will run on your date
Open the official daily fountain notice. If the direct link changes, use the Hangang Park homepage and look under 새소식 for 반포대교 달빛무지개분수 가동 안내.
Check these fields before arranging the rest of your evening:
| Field to look for | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Date in the heading and body | It matches your visit date; an old posting date alone is insufficient |
| 가동여부 — operating status | Whether the notice says operation or suspension |
| 가동시간 — operating times | Your intended show is included |
| 가동방향 — operating direction | Which side is planned: 상류 means upstream, 하류 means downstream |
These fields are visible in the operator’s daily notice. The notice itself warns that weather can change both operation and direction.
If the heading, Korean body and English date disagree, confirm with the operator before making a fountain-only detour. The published fountain inquiry numbers are 02-3780-0578 or 02-3780-0579 within Korea.
A useful question is: “Will the Banpo fountain operate on [date] at [time], and which side should we use?” If you cannot confirm it, keep your plans flexible.
Allow time for the walk from the station
The park’s official directions list Express Bus Terminal station, lines 3, 7 and 9, using exits 8-1 or 8-2, or Goto Mall G1, with approximately 15 minutes on foot toward Banpo Bridge.
Treat that as a walking estimate from the exit. Add time to reach the correct exit, follow any temporary diversions and find the appropriate riverside viewing area. If your starting hotel does not appear in the map, use our Korean-address search checklist to resolve the departure point before estimating the full trip.
Illustrative plan for a confirmed 19:30 show: reach the correct station exit around 19:00, allow the listed 15-minute walk, then keep the remaining 15 minutes for orientation. This is a planning buffer, not a guaranteed journey time. Check your actual walking route before departure.
Choose an evening that still works if the fountain stops
| Your main reason for going | A practical plan |
|---|---|
| You specifically want the fountain | Choose an operating-season date and check the dated notice before travelling |
| You want a relaxed river walk | Decide on the route, weather and return journey; treat a confirmed show as an extra |
| You are visiting in November | Pick a river evening you would enjoy without fountain jets, or choose another main view |
| You are considering a paid cruise or tour | Check its route, boarding point, inclusions and cancellation terms; a fountain photo does not establish a guaranteed show |
For one evening, choose a main activity and keep the rest nearby. Our Seoul night-view comparison helps compare Banpo with observatories and other routes. If a boat ride is the activity you actually want, use the Han River cruise guide to check the departure and ticket details.
Before booking a package advertised with a fountain image, ask: “What happens to this itinerary if the fountain does not operate on my date?” Save the answer with your booking. Pay for a service whose stated inclusions still make sense for your trip.
