The ₩9,500 Gimhae Airport bus is most useful when its stop is close to your Haeundae hotel and you want to avoid moving luggage between trains. Rail needs just one change at Sasang: airport light rail, then Metro Line 2 toward Jangsan. Choose by the walk at the hotel end and the next departure, rather than assuming the direct bus will arrive first. For an early flight home, check the return timetable separately—the first beach departure does not reach the airport before 06:00.
Official fares, routes and timetable checked October 22, 2026. This guide covers Gimhae Airport (PUS), not Gimpo Airport (GMP) in Seoul.
Choose by your hotel and luggage
| Your situation | Start with | What changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| You can manage your bags through a station transfer | Light rail + Line 2 | One change at Sasang; include the walk from your destination station to the hotel. |
| Your hotel is close to a listed limousine stop | Haeundae/Gijang airport bus | ₩9,500 per adult; compare the next departure and the final walk with rail. |
| Several adults, several large cases, or a hotel far from either stop | A taxi or suitable vehicle quote | Compare the whole vehicle price, passenger capacity and luggage space with the group’s bus total. |
| You must be at the airport before the first public-transport connection arrives | An arranged road transfer | Work backward from the airline’s required arrival time; a first departure time is not an airport arrival time. |
Our practical test: put your actual hotel entrance into the map, then compare both routes from the time you expect to leave the terminal. A bus that saves a change may still leave a long walk with cases. A train route that looks cheap may be a poor fit if the group cannot comfortably handle the transfer.
Rail: change once at Sasang
The airport’s rail guide identifies Sasang as the connection to Metro Line 2. Use this sequence:
- Go to Airport Station (공항역) on the Busan–Gimhae Light Rail.
- Take the light rail toward Sasang (사상).
- At Sasang, follow the signs to Metro Line 2 toward Jangsan (장산).
- Leave at the station that fits your hotel. Haeundae (해운대) is on that line; the official route map shows it on the Jangsan side of Sasang. You do not need an extra change at Seomyeon for this route.
This is a route outline, not an accessible walking route or a guaranteed journey time. Check the station exit and any elevator needs before setting off with large bags. Include the terminal walk, waiting, the Sasang transfer and your hotel walk in the total.
Use the transit-card transfer rules
Do not simply add two standalone ticket prices when budgeting a qualifying card transfer. BGL’s current Korean fare page says the regional transfer charge was abolished on September 19, 2025: eligible journeys pay the highest applicable fare, with any fare difference collected. Its transfer window is 30 minutes after leaving the first mode, with up to two changes.
The operator’s adult light-rail card bands are ₩1,600 and ₩1,800; Busan Metro’s adult card bands are also ₩1,600 and ₩1,800. These are the operators’ fare bands, not a separate door-to-door quote for every Haeundae address. Use the same eligible transit card throughout and check the route fare at the station. Allow extra money for buying a card if you do not already have one.
A Busan Metro day pass does not include the airport light rail. The Metro operator explicitly excludes BGL from its season passes. If you already have a day pass, budget the airport leg separately instead of assuming the pass gets you all the way to the terminal.
Airport bus: ₩9,500, with hotel-area stops
The bus operator’s fare table lists ₩9,500 per adult for Haeundae/Gijang. The airport boarding guide lists platform 3 on the first floor of both terminals and credit-card-only payment. Have a payment card ready; do not plan to pay cash. Confirm that your card and selected departure are accepted before boarding.
Look for the Haeundae/Gijang limousine, which the operator labels airport limousine 1. Its separate Seomyeon/Bujeon route is a different service. The operator’s stop list includes these useful arrival options:
| Hotel or destination area | Stop to compare with your address |
|---|---|
| Centum City / exhibition area | Shinsegae Centum City or BEXCO |
| Suyeong Yachting Center | Yachting Center (요트경기장) |
| Marine City | Park Hyatt Busan or Hanwha Resort Haeundae |
| West end of the beach | Dongbaekseom Entrance (동백섬 입구) |
| Main beach area | Haeundae Beach (해운대해수욕장) |
These are stops, not a promise of hotel-door drop-off. For the return trip, open the airport-bound stop list: the two directions are not identical. For example, the operator lists Jangsan Station Exit 5 on arrival from the airport and Exit 14 toward the airport.
Compare the group total before choosing a car
At the published adult bus fare, two adults cost ₩19,000; three cost ₩28,500; four cost ₩38,000. Those are bus-ticket calculations, not taxi quotes. Compare them with a current quote for a vehicle that can carry everyone and the luggage. Check whether tolls, time surcharges and any booking fee are included. Do not assume a standard taxi can take four people plus four large cases.
If you choose a taxi through Kakao T, check the card registration and pay-to-driver options before relying on a particular payment method.
The bus removes the rail change, but its wait and road traffic still matter. Use the operator’s timetable, select your departure terminal and direction, and check the next usable departure before deciding.
Early flight: the first beach bus arrives after 06:00
On the operator’s Haeundae/Gijang → Gimhae Airport timetable checked October 22, the first service shows:
| Point on the first airport-bound service | Scheduled time |
|---|---|
| Haeundae Beach departure | 05:17 |
| Gimhae International Terminal arrival | 06:40 |
| Gimhae Domestic Terminal arrival | 06:45 |
These are scheduled times, and the operator warns that traffic can delay the bus. If your airline requires you at the terminal before 06:00, this bus does not meet that requirement. For a 07:20 flight, do not assume the 05:17 departure is early enough: first check the airline’s check-in, baggage-drop and boarding deadlines for your flight, then arrange a suitable transfer if needed.
For rail, check a complete journey from your Haeundae station to Airport Station on your travel date, including the connection at Sasang. The first light rail at the airport tells you nothing about when a passenger starting in Haeundae can reach it. The same rule applies late at night: a running light rail does not by itself guarantee a connecting Line 2 train.
Before leaving the hotel or terminal
- Save the hotel address in Korean and confirm whether the flight uses the domestic or international terminal.
- Check the correct direction and departure point in the timetable; arrival and return stops can differ.
- Keep your fare and payment method ready before refunding any leftover transit-card balance.
- Leave room for baggage collection, the last walk and delays before booking a fixed-time activity.
If you are planning a cruise on arrival day, our Busan yacht tour guide separates the Suyeong, APEC Naru and Yongho Bay departure points. They are not interchangeable just because a tour name includes Haeundae. For the next day’s sightseeing, compare the Busan City Tour Bus routes.
