Budget ₩3,300 for one hour on a standard adult bicycle from a Hangang park rental shop, according to Seoul’s current facility guide, checked October 3, 2026. A ₩1,000 figure should not be used as the price for these park rental shops.

Choose the activity first: a riverside walk or picnic needs little advance planning, while a bicycle rental, water activity, or cruise has its own operator and conditions. This guide focuses on park bicycle rentals and a flexible outing around them.

Park rental prices and return rules

Seoul’s official Hangang bicycle-rental page lists:

Bicycle1 hour2 hours
Standard adult₩3,300₩6,600
Adult tandem₩6,600₩13,200
Family: 2 adults, 1–2 children₩20,000₩40,000

Return to the original shop; limited weekday exceptions require advance arrangements. Late returns incur charges. Confirm your return deadline and location before riding.

These are park-shop rates. Seoul’s public bike-share system is a separate service with different registration, equipment, and return arrangements.

Choose one starting point

The official directory locates Yeouinaru’s shop below Exit 2, Banpo’s by its access passage, and Ttukseom’s below Cheongdam Bridge’s north side. Choose a shop near your other plans and save its exact map pin for the return.

See Seoul’s Hangang park overview for the wider park network. A park name, a subway station, and a bicycle shop are not interchangeable meeting points.

A flexible two-person outing

Here is a suggested plan, not a route we have personally tested:

  1. Arrive without renting immediately. Locate the shop, toilets, and a suitable place to sit. Check weather, path restrictions, and the displayed return time.
  2. Start with a one-hour rental if you are unsure. Two standard bicycles cost ₩6,600 for that hour using the table above. Two hours on both bicycles cost ₩13,200. Food and transport are extra.
  3. Ride out and back. Set a turnaround reminder that leaves time to return, stop at crossings, and queue at the shop. Pick the distance according to your group’s ability and conditions.
  4. Return the bikes before sitting down for a picnic. This avoids paying for rental time while the bicycles are parked.
  5. Keep the rest of the visit flexible. Bring food you already want, buy it locally, or leave for dinner elsewhere. There is no reason to buy a tour simply to sit beside the river.

For a family, compare the equipment as well as the total. A family bicycle’s capacity, handling, and child seating differ from two separate bicycles. Ask the shop about suitability and available safety equipment before payment.

Renting: what to check at the shop

The official kiosk instructions require a phone number and payment; keep the receipt for return. Overseas phone and card acceptance is unverified, so ask staff first.

Useful questions to show staff:

Can I pay with this card and use this phone number? Which bicycle fits our group? What time must it be back? How are extra minutes charged? Can I return it here even if the weather changes?

Check the bicycle and brakes before leaving. Follow the posted cycling directions and local closures. If conditions are unsuitable or the payment cannot be completed, walking and a picnic remain simple alternatives.

Keep cruises and water sports as separate decisions

A bicycle rental does not include a cruise, lesson, or festival ticket. Before buying one of those, confirm the exact pier or meeting point, activity duration, weather cancellation terms, and what equipment is included. A generic “Han River tour” label does not answer those questions.

For a short stay, one paid activity plus unstructured time is often easier to fit around meals and transport than several fixed reservations. That is an itinerary suggestion, not a claim that a package is always more expensive.

Use our Seoul hotel-area comparison to consider the journey back, the rain travel guide for an indoor fallback, and restaurant phrases if you finish the outing with a meal.
