For a Myeongdong hotel near a bus stop, the airport bus is worth comparing before buying AREX Express. At the fares checked below, bus 6015 costs KRW 17,000 per adult, while Express plus the subway to Myeongdong costs KRW 14,550 with an existing transit card. That is a KRW 2,450 difference to avoid changing trains with your bags. The cheaper AREX All-Stop is a separate option; choose it when saving money matters more than a reserved seat or avoiding the transfer.

Official information checked October 10, 2026. The comparison covers travel from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong, followed by walking to your accommodation. Extra luggage charges, a new transit card, taxis and discounts are excluded. Sources: 6015 route and fare, AREX Express fare, Seoul subway fares.

Our recommendation is to compare two actual walking routes: your bus stop to the hotel entrance, and your subway exit to that same entrance. A hotel marketed as “Myeongdong” does not tell you which will be easier. Use the Seoul hotel-area guide if you are still choosing where to stay.

The cost for one, two or four adults

The following is an illustrative fare calculation, not a group discount. It uses the displayed KRW 13,000 Express fare from either airport terminal, plus a separate KRW 1,550 adult transit-card subway ride from Seoul Station to Myeongdong. Each traveler already has a suitable card. For the bus, it uses the published KRW 17,000 adult fare. Everyone walks from the arrival stop or station to the hotel.

Sources: 6015, 6001, Express and Seoul subway fare rules. Express promotions or seller-specific tickets can change the difference. A subway single-ride ticket has a higher fare and a refundable deposit; buying a new transit card also adds an initial expense.

What this means: two adults can ask whether avoiding the rail transfer is worth KRW 4,900 for their party. Four adults should compare any suitable vehicle quote with the whole-party bus or rail cost, including tolls and enough luggage space. This table does not establish a taxi price or guarantee that four people and their bags fit one standard taxi.

What about the cheaper All-Stop train?

AREX’s adult transit-card fare table lists KRW 4,750 from T1 to Seoul Station and KRW 5,350 from T2 to Seoul Station. Those are airport-to-Seoul-Station prices, not a quoted total to Myeongdong. Enter Myeongdong as your final destination when checking the through journey; the integrated fare depends on the route and fare product. Do not automatically add a second full subway base fare to the All-Stop fare.

Use our AREX Express vs All-Stop guide for the train-ticket choices and the optional Express booking route. If your goal is the lowest rail outlay, compare All-Stop first rather than treating Express as the only train.

Choose the Myeongdong stop before the bus number

The operator’s inbound 6015 route includes several different stops around the district. Match the stop name to the hotel’s actual address:

Where your hotel isStop to inspect on the 6015 route
Lotte / ibis sideLotte Hotel / IBIS Myeong-dong
Royal Hotel / Euljiro 1-ga sideRoyal Hotel (Euljiro 1-ga)
Euljiro 2-ga / Pine Avenue sideEuljiro 2(i)-ga (Pine Avenue)
L7 / Sejong / Myeongdong Station sideMyeong-dong stn (L7 Myeong-dong / Sejong Hotel)

Open the official 6015 route, select To Downtown, then select the stop. Its Myeongdong Station drop-off description places it near Exit 8, by L7 and Sejong hotels, opposite Prince Hotel and in front of Kookmin Bank. This identifies the bus stop; it is not a promise of a step-free subway exit.

6001 is another option for the Myeongdong Station side. Its inbound route reaches Myeongdong Station after Seoul Station and Hoehyeon, then continues toward Chungmuro. It follows a different city route from 6015. Compare the next departure and your precise drop-off, rather than assuming the two buses take identical journeys.

Save the hotel entrance and the stop as separate map pins. Check the side of the road, crossings and walking route with your bags. The stop’s hotel label does not mean every nearby property has doorstep service.

What the AREX transfer actually involves

For a hotel near Myeongdong Station, the rail sequence is:

Incheon T1 or T2 → AREX to Seoul Station → Line 4 to Myeongdong → hotel walk.

At Seoul Station, follow the Line 4 signs and take the direction serving Hoehyeon, then Myeongdong. Keep the luggage with you throughout the transfer. The Express ticket covers the airport train; prepare the separate subway fare. If using All-Stop, follow the signed subway transfer route with your fare card or through ticket.

The Express service page lists 43 minutes for T1–Seoul Station and 51 minutes for T2–Seoul Station. The All-Stop page lists 59 and 66 minutes, with some trains taking another 2–6 minutes. These are train segments. Add waiting, the station transfer, the Line 4 ride and the hotel walk before comparing with a bus arrival estimate.

A useful planning formula is:

Airport-ready time + departure wait + ride + transfer + final walk = hotel arrival.

Use the departures available after baggage claim, not your flight’s landing time. For example, a longer wait for Express can use up its onboard time advantage. Road congestion can change the bus result in the other direction. Neither the 43-minute train figure nor a bus map estimate is a guaranteed hotel arrival time.

Luggage: check the limits, not just the storage space

Airport Limousine’s baggage notice allows up to two pieces per person including carry-on luggage. It describes each as under 28 inches and under 20 kg, with combined dimensions no more than 158 cm; it separately says only one piece weighing 20 kg or more is allowed per person. Large backpacks and similar carry-ons count too.

The operator’s pages differ: its English transport terms use a 20 kg-and-under limit and a combined size below 160 cm. For a bag around these limits, oversized luggage or extra pieces, confirm acceptance and the charge with the operator or counter before buying. Do not assume your airline’s baggage allowance also applies to the bus.

AREX also has limits. Article 50 of its transport rules generally excludes items weighing 32 kg or more, or measuring 158 cm or more in combined dimensions, and limits passengers to two items. Listed exceptions include some sporting equipment, wheelchairs, strollers in use and certain items approved by staff for same-day airline passengers. An exception requiring approval should be checked before boarding.

Even when the bag is allowed, ask whether you can move it through gates, corridors and the final walk. A luggage rack on the airport train does not remove the Seoul Station transfer. Travelers who need step-free access should verify station elevators and the coach’s accessibility for their particular journey.

Boarding at T1 or T2

  • Bus from T1: use the first-floor ticket facilities. The airport lists indoor booths next to exits 4 and 9, plus outdoor booths. Confirm the route, destination stop and bay on your ticket. T1 guide.
  • Bus from T2: ticketing and Seoul-bound buses are at the B1 Transportation Center. The route pages list bay 28 for 6015 and bay 29 for 6001 at this check; follow the current ticket and signs. T2 guide.
  • AREX: follow the Airport Railroad signs to the B1 Transportation Center at your terminal, then the correct Express or All-Stop entrance. The Express service has its own ticket and assigned seat.

For bus payment details, use our Incheon Airport bus tickets and T-money guide. For these bus services, buy the required airport ticket before boarding.

Arriving late? Check a departure you can reach after immigration and baggage, plus the onward subway connection if using rail. Use the airport’s separate T1 night-bus guide or T2 night-bus guide if daytime services no longer fit. A night bus can have a different destination and stop.

For the return trip, select To Incheon Airport and confirm your boarding stop and departure terminal again. Keep that return route separate from the arrival screenshot.

A practical choice before you buy

Choose the bus when its stop leaves a manageable hotel walk and avoiding the transfer is worth the extra fare to you. Choose All-Stop when price matters most and you can comfortably manage the bags. Choose Express when an assigned airport-train seat and a well-timed departure justify its premium, while allowing for the onward subway ride.

Before paying, save your terminal, selected service, exact destination stop, hotel entrance and one backup route. Those details are more useful after a flight than choosing transport on the advertised train time alone.
