An east-coast Jeju tour can still start in Jeju City. The tour checked for this guide lists three Jeju City meeting points. Staying in central Seogwipo or Jungmun would leave you with a separate journey to the start—and a way home after the tour. Choose your base around the trips you will actually make: Jeju City for a matching tour pickup, central Seogwipo for local walking, or Jungmun for a resort-focused stay with suitable transport.
Official tourism information and the supplier’s tour listing checked October 11, 2026. The recommendations below are our planning judgments, based on those sources. Confirm the selected tour date, meeting point and transport before making a nonrefundable hotel booking.
Jeju City, central Seogwipo or Jungmun?
| Base | A good fit when… | What to check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Jeju City | Your chosen tour meets here, or the first/last airport connection drives your hotel choice | The hotel-to-meeting-point journey; different Jeju City addresses can still require transport |
| Central Seogwipo | Markets, coastal walks and time in the original downtown are part of the holiday | How you will reach and return from any tour that starts in Jeju City |
| Jungmun | The resort stay and nearby attractions are priorities | The exact hotel entrance, airport-bus stop and tour pickup service area |
Start with the day that is hardest to rearrange: an early flight, a fixed tour departure or a booked activity. Then see which base makes the remaining days practical. A lower room price can be less useful if it adds a difficult journey on several mornings.
The pickup detail that can change your hotel choice
For a concrete example, the Jeju Eastern UNESCO Sites Day Tour, supplied by K ONE TOUR Travel Agency on Viator, displayed these meeting-point choices when checked:
| Listed meeting point | Address in Jeju City |
|---|---|
| LOTTE DUTY FREE Jeju Store | 83 Doryeong-ro |
| Ocean Suites Jeju Hotel | 74 Tapdonghaean-ro |
| Jeju International Airport | 2 Gonghang-ro |
The supplier’s listing says the activity ends back at the meeting point; its itinerary also offers an optional Dongmun Market drop-off. Confirm which applies to your booking. The journey between that drop-off and your accommodation is another part of your day.
This example covers one tour. Other operators may have different meeting points or hotel pickup. Check the exact option you intend to buy, including departure time and the return location, rather than choosing accommodation from the attraction names in a tour title.
Watch the LOTTE names: the Jeju City LOTTE DUTY FREE Jeju Store meeting point is a different place from LOTTE HOTEL JEJU in the southern Jungmun resort area. The official Jungmun guide identifies the resort hotel there. Match the full address in your tour confirmation.
For the route decision itself, use our Jeju east tour versus Udo Island comparison. The following optional tour is the mainland example above; it does not include Udo.

What each base gives you between tours
Jeju City: pair your meeting point with the area you want to explore
For an independent walking day, consider the old downtown around Jungang-ro. Jeju Tourism Organization connects this area with Dongmun Market, Chilseong-ro and Gwandeokjeong in its Jungang-ro guide.
A hotel near the airport or a particular pickup may suit a different part of your plan. Compare both addresses before assuming you can walk between them. If most days involve a tour that meets in Jeju City, a matching city base can avoid repeatedly traveling north from a southern hotel. You still need to plan any independent east, west or south-coast day separately.
Central Seogwipo: make the local walking part of the holiday
Jeju Tourism Organization’s Hayoung Olle walking guide describes routes through Seogwipo’s original downtown. Course 2 includes Jaguri Coast, Seogwipo Port, Lee Jung-seop Street and Maeil Olle Market.
Choose a section that suits your walking ability and interests, then locate your hotel relative to it. This makes central Seogwipo a useful candidate when local food and coastal walks are a substantial part of the stay. A day tour with a northern meeting point needs its own outbound and return plan. If that journey is awkward, compare a tour with a suitable southern pickup before changing the entire hotel booking.
Jungmun: choose it for the resort stay and its actual surroundings
The official Jungmun Tourist Complex guide places the area across Jungmun-dong, Saekdal-dong and Daepo-dong in Seogwipo-si, with attractions such as Jungmun Saekdal Beach and Cheonjeyeon Falls.
That broad “Seogwipo-si” address can cover a different stay from a hotel beside the downtown market. Check the map pin and hotel entrance. For each attraction, look up the actual walking or bus route; being in the same resort area does not establish an easy walk from every hotel. Choose Jungmun when the resort and those surroundings are worth the transport arrangements your other days require.
Late arrival or early flight: plan the airport days first
Use our Jeju Airport to Seogwipo bus guide to identify the route and southern stop that fit your accommodation. Then check the official Jeju Bus schedules for your direction and travel date.
For arrival, allow for baggage collection, reaching the stop and the final walk to the hotel. For departure, work backward from your airline’s check-in requirements. A published terminal departure time may differ from the time at your boarding stop.
If the available service does not fit, compare a confirmed transfer with spending the first or last night in Jeju City. Moving hotels also means checkout, luggage and another check-in, so it is most useful when it solves a specific connection problem. Get an actual transfer quote before treating it as a small addition to the room price.
Save these four details before booking the room
- Hotel: Korean name, full address and entrance location.
- Airport journey: named boarding/alighting stops, service on your travel date and the final leg with luggage.
- Tour start: selected meeting point, confirmed time and a workable way to get there.
- Tour finish: confirmed return/drop-off point and the journey back to the hotel.
If your plan only works with repeated long transfers, narrow the sightseeing area, choose a better-matched tour or reconsider the base. Travelers considering switching to driving can use our Jeju rental-car booking guide to check that option before committing.
