Before packing light for Korea, confirm that your accommodation has a washing machine you can operate and a way to dry the clothes. A listing that says “laundry service” can mean handing clothes to staff for a fee. For example, SIGNIEL BUSAN’s official FAQ says it has no coin laundromat or dryer and offers paid hotel laundry service instead.
Ask about the exact property before booking. The examples below show what to check, with official facilities and prices verified on October 23, 2026. They are not a survey of every Korean hotel.
What does the laundry amenity actually include?
| What the listing says | What you still need to establish | Best fit when… |
|---|---|---|
| Laundry service / dry cleaning | Who handles the clothes, the price basis, collection deadline and return time | You want staff to handle suitable items and can accept the quote and schedule |
| Self-service laundry / coin laundromat | Washer and dryer availability, guest access, hours, payment and supplies | You can set aside time to wash, transfer and collect a load |
| Washing machine in the accommodation | Whether your specific room has it, permitted use, detergent and drying facilities | You want to do laundry around your own schedule |
An in-room washer alone does not tell you how you will dry clothes. Likewise, “coin laundry” does not confirm that your foreign card will work. Get the payment instructions for that property rather than assuming a nationwide system.
Three official hotel examples
| Property | What its official page confirms | Practical consequence |
|---|---|---|
| ibis Ambassador Seoul Myeongdong | Guest coin laundry with washing machines and tumble dryers, 10F, 24 hours | There is an explicit self-service facility; ask for the current load prices and payment method |
| LOTTE CITY HOTEL DAEJEON | Coin laundry with washing and drying equipment, 2F, 24 hours, with separate published charges | Budget for the full wash-and-dry job, including any supplies you need |
| SIGNIEL BUSAN | No coin laundromat or dryer; paid hotel laundry service available | If doing your own load is essential, arrange an outside option or choose accommodation with confirmed machines |

A ₩5,000 wash can need an ₩11,000 budget
At LOTTE CITY HOTEL DAEJEON, the published laundry charges are:
| Item | Published charge |
|---|---|
| Wash | ₩5,000 |
| Dry | ₩5,000 |
| Detergent | ₩1,000 |
| Fabric softener | ₩1,000 |
For one wash + one dry + one detergent purchase, the arithmetic is ₩11,000. Adding one fabric-softener purchase makes ₩12,000. This is a calculation from that property’s posted charges, not a typical Korea price or a guarantee that one drying run will finish every load.
When comparing options, add the washing charge, drying charge, supplies and any travel cost. Ask how much clothing a load can hold and how drying time is charged. Follow the machine instructions and your clothes’ care labels; do not buy or add detergent until you know whether it is already dispensed or included.
Check the return time before relying on staff service
There can be two different schedules within one hotel. LOTTE CITY Daejeon’s laundry-service FAQ directs guests to the request form and envelope in the closet, and says laundry pickup and delivery are unavailable on weekends and holidays. Its separate coin-laundry page advertises 24-hour access.
For staff service, ask for the final return date and time, the itemized or load-based quote, and any express charge before handing clothes over. Plan around when you leave the hotel. For self-service, leave room in your schedule for occupied machines and drying; an open laundry room is not a reservation for a free machine.
Send this before booking
I am considering a stay from [date] to [date]. Do you have a self-service washing machine and tumble dryer that guests can use? Please confirm the location, opening hours, washing and drying charges, accepted payment, and whether detergent is included. If you offer only staff laundry service, what is the price basis and when would my clothes be returned?
Useful Korean questions to show the front desk:
- 투숙객이 직접 사용할 수 있는 세탁기와 건조기가 있나요? — Is there a washer and dryer that guests can operate themselves?
- 세탁과 건조 요금은 각각 얼마인가요? — How much are washing and drying separately?
- 세제가 자동으로 들어가나요, 따로 넣어야 하나요? — Is detergent dispensed automatically, or do I add it?
- 해외에서 발급된 카드로 결제할 수 있나요? — Can I pay with a card issued overseas?
- 맡긴 세탁물은 언제 받을 수 있나요? — When can I collect the laundry I hand in?
If you need help asking staff to repeat a price or confirm payment, save the Korean price and payment phrases as well.
If your hotel has no guest machines
Search near the accommodation using 셀프빨래방 (self-service laundromat) or 코인세탁소 (coin laundry). Check the actual branch’s current hours, machine instructions, payment method and supplies before carrying a bag there. A general 세탁소 result may be a staffed cleaner, so look for explicit self-service information.
Use the NAVER Map address guide if an English place name brings up the wrong branch. Save the chosen laundry’s Korean address, then confirm access with the hotel or the laundry’s own information. Keep one spare outfit available while a load is being washed or dried.
For a trip with several hotel moves, choose a laundry stop where you have enough time before departure. Confirming one workable washer-and-dryer plan gives you a firmer packing decision than relying on a generic amenity tick box. If you are still choosing a base, combine this checklist with the Seoul accommodation-area guide.
