Pack your own toothbrush and toothpaste for a Korean hotel stay unless your exact property confirms they are included. A room can have shampoo and body wash while its dental kit costs extra: Hotel Koreana’s official policy describes exactly that arrangement. Put your dental essentials in your arrival pouch to avoid discovering a missing item when you are ready for bed.
Official sources checked October 24, 2026. Amenities vary by property and room arrangement. A booking page’s broad “toiletries” label is not an item-by-item inclusion list.
What to pack, and what to confirm first
| Item | A practical packing decision |
|---|---|
| Toothbrush and toothpaste | Bring your own reusable brush and familiar toothpaste, or confirm the hotel’s kit price before arrival |
| Shampoo, conditioner and body wash | Check whether refillable bottles are supplied; pack your preferred products if you do not want to use those |
| Razor and shaving gel | Ask separately if you need them; a bathroom-amenities list does not establish inclusion |
| Sleepwear | Pack it unless the property explicitly supplies pajamas; a listed bathrobe does not establish that |
| Towels, hand soap and toilet paper | Check these separately if the listing is unclear, particularly for a rental apartment |
For a family, count toothbrushes by person. Bring any preferred child-size brush and toothpaste instead of relying on an unspecified hotel kit. You can keep using the same personal supplies when changing hotels.
Why a toothbrush can cost extra
Korea’s government Easy Law guidance, dated September 15, 2026, says lodging businesses with 50 or more rooms cannot provide the listed single-use items free of charge: razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner.
The restriction concerns those disposable items. It does not establish a nationwide dental-kit price, and the room-count threshold does not promise that a smaller property will give you one free. Read the property’s actual inclusions.
Towels, toilet paper and hand soap are not in that five-item list. If an accommodation says “amenities are restricted,” ask which supplies it means. Do not assume every missing bathroom item is explained by this rule, or that every rental apartment follows the same arrangement as a large hotel.
Two official hotel policies show the distinction
| Property | What its published information says |
|---|---|
| Hotel Koreana, Seoul | Toothbrushes, toothpaste and razors are not complimentary; amenity kits are sold. Refillable shampoo, conditioner and body wash are supplied |
| LOTTE CITY HOTEL DAEJEON | Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion and hand wash come in multipurpose bottles. Toothbrush, toothpaste, razor and shaving gel are listed as not provided |

These examples help you read an amenities list; they are not a ranking or a guarantee for every hotel in either chain. Neither cited FAQ provides a current dental-kit price. Ask for the price and contents before opening a kit offered for sale.
A lighter bag without a first-night shopping errand
Use this order when packing:
- Set aside your toothbrush and toothpaste first. Keep them accessible for the first night, especially if the rest of your luggage will stay unpacked.
- Check your exact property’s bathroom list. If its supplied shower products suit you, you can leave duplicate bottles at home.
- Resolve the unclear items together. Ask about sleepwear, shaving supplies and any rental-apartment basics you need.
- Check buying arrangements if you plan to arrive without something. Ask where the kit is sold and whether you can buy it at your arrival time. Do not assume a lobby shop will be open.
Packing fewer clothes also depends on the room’s facilities. A hotel advertising a laundry service may mean paid staff-handled cleaning; check our guest-washer guide before planning to wash halfway through your trip. If you are bringing an electrical grooming appliance, check its voltage label with the Korea plug and voltage guide.
Send this question before you travel
“칫솔과 치약이 무료로 제공되나요? 유료라면 세트 가격이 얼마인가요? 샴푸와 바디워시는 객실에 있나요?”
“Are toothbrushes and toothpaste complimentary? If there is a charge, how much is the set? Are shampoo and body wash provided in the room?”
Add your property name and room type when asking a chain’s central reservations team. Keep the reply with your booking details. That gives you a usable packing list and a confirmed price if you choose to buy supplies after arrival.
