Do not set a Wednesday reminder and assume it covers a Saturday forest-cabin stay. Korea’s national recreation forests use different systems for off-season weekdays and weekends. The weekend lottery can matter before the first-come booking window opens.
The official rules and examples below were checked October 3, 2026. This is a research-based booking guide; it does not describe a personal stay. “Near Seoul” here means forests in surrounding Gyeonggi Province, not the urban Seoul Forest park.
Three forests to put on your shortlist

Choose one location before checking prices. A low room tariff can lose its advantage if the final bus connection, taxi trip, or rental car makes the visit expensive. Enter the property’s full Korean address into your journey planner and confirm the last leg in both directions.
Weekday booking versus the weekend lottery
The Foresttrip 2026 FAQ describes these rules for the 48 national forests covered by its notice:

The FAQ’s weekend application hours are 09:00–18:00. The rules are not universal across every public or private forest on Foresttrip: use its forest-by-forest policy directory and the specific property’s notice.
Planning consequence: if your only possible stay is a weekend, identify its application month first. If your dates are flexible, compare weekday availability before arranging transport. Do not buy a nonrefundable onward journey on the assumption that a lottery application is a reservation.
Actual tariff examples from Yumyeongsan
The official Yumyeongsan fee table lists these accommodation charges in KRW:

These are listed facility rates, not an availability check or a complete trip budget. Confirm the selected unit, date category, occupancy, and any separate entry or parking charges before paying.
For the same Odumak A unit, the listed weekend/peak tariff is ₩26,000 higher than the off-season weekday tariff. That is a comparison of two published room rates, not a guarantee that changing your travel date will save ₩26,000 overall. Recalculate transport and time off work too.
What an overseas visitor should resolve first
The booking pages are largely in Korean. Before relying on a cabin for a short Korea trip, check whether you can complete the account, identity verification, payment, and check-in requirements for your circumstances. We have not verified a complete reservation using an overseas visitor’s account or card.
Ask the selected forest:
I am visiting from overseas. Can I reserve this room with my available identification and payment card? What must I show at check-in? Are bedding, cooking equipment, and towels included for all guests? What are the cancellation deadline and refund deductions?
Resolve this before the release time. Never use someone else’s identity to get around a reservation requirement.
Build the budget around a specific booking
Write down room charge + return transport + meals + any required facility charges. For camping, add equipment you actually need. Check the room description for bathrooms, cooking facilities, bedding, and stairs rather than assuming all cabins provide the same things.
